BOARD CERTIFIED WOUND CARE SPECIALIST
Monday, June 12, 2017
Amanda Standage RN, BSN, WCC of the Cozad Community Health System has recently passed her board certification testing for wound care. Standage became a registered nurse in 2015; and throughout nursing school she always had a fervent interest in wound care. When the opportunity arose in October 2016 to become a part of the wound care team at the Cozad Community Wound Care Clinic she knew she had to jump at the chance.
Standage passed the national exam to become a Board Certified Wound Care Specialist the first part of June through the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy. She joins colleagues Jillian Reynolds, RN, WCC, DWC and Robert Dyer, PT, DPT, OCS, WCC as one of 57 clinicians in Nebraska to earn this certification.
The wound care certification program trains its clinicians to provide evidence based practice wound care. This includes, but is not limited to, treatment and management of venous, arterial, and pressure associated ulcerations, compression therapy, debridement, wound vac use and off-loading techniques.
Standage also attended the sharp debridement course in March to further her knowledge in the use of different techniques, instruments and tissue types while debriding. This class was created and held to the standards of the same National Alliance.
