The Cozad Hospital Board voted unanimously at the regular monthly meeting on August 28 to put Meadowlark Pointe Assisted Living & Memory Care Facility up for sale.
To be very clear, this is the planned sale, not closure, of the facility. In today's complex healthcare landscape, to best maximize reimbursement within a critical access hospital system, transitioning Meadowlark Pointe to an ownership that specializes in managing assisted living and memory care will give both the facility and Cozad Community Health System the best opportunity for long term success.
As part of responsible leadership, Cozad Community Health System continually analyzes the performance and sustainability of its service lines. This transition will allow Cozad Community Health System to focus on continuing to deliver the highest quality of family, acute, specialty and home health and hospice care, as well as surgical, diagnostic and rehabilitative services, while ensuring Meadowlark Pointe continues to thrive under ownership with expertise in assisted living and memory care. This decision supports the long term viability of healthcare in our community.
Encouraging conversations with potential buyers are beginning to take place, and those being considered have expressed a strong interest in retaining current staff and preserving the exceptional culture that has made Meadowlark Pointe feel like family. All prospective owners will be carefully vetted to ensure a continued commitment to the highest standards of care and workplace culture. The wellbeing of residents and staff will remain the top priority throughout this process.
