At Cozad Community Health System, we understand that the journey at the end of life can be challenging and emotional, both for patients and their families. Our Hospice Chaplain, Robert Litzenberger, provides compassionate spiritual care during this critical time.
Robert has been serving in ministry and pastoral work since 1983, with a degree in Bible and Missions and a Master of Divinity in Chaplaincy. His deep calling to provide comfort and peace through spiritual care has led him to hospice chaplaincy, where he walks alongside patients, offering a light of hope and peace.
As a hospice chaplain, Robert's role goes beyond just offering prayers—he provides spiritual guidance that aligns with each patient's unique beliefs. He listens with empathy, offers comforting scripture, and prays with patients and their families to bring a sense of peace during their end-of-life journey. His neutral stance allows him to support individuals, regardless of their faith background, while honoring their personal spirituality.
In addition to providing direct care for patients and families, Robert also supports our staff through a special ceremony called the "Blessing of the Hands." During this ceremony, he anoints caregivers' hands with oil, affirming and blessing their skilled and compassionate work. This act of spiritual encouragement nurtures both the body and the soul, creating a positive environment for healing and care.
Robert’s commitment to spiritual care extends to the entire Cozad Community Health System, offering support in the hospital and beyond, ensuring that anyone in need of spiritual assistance can receive it.
