Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders. We serve everyone from infants to adults and strive to provide the best care to our patients in order to improve their overall quality of life. Speech-Language Pathologists provide education, exercises, therapeutic tasks, and compensatory strategies to a patient who may experience the following:
- Articulation Disorders (substitutions, omissions, additions, or distortions of speech sounds)
- Expressive/Receptive Language Disorders (aphasia, difficulty talking, understanding, reading, and writing)
- Fluency Disorders (disruptions in speaking rate, rhythm, and repetitions of sounds)
- Voice Disorders (abnormal vocal quality, pitch, loudness, resonance; vocal nodules and polyps, vocal fold paralysis, dysphonia, and diplophonia)
- Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing; weakened and/or uncoordinated oral, pharyngeal, and or laryngeal musculature; pediatric feeding difficulties)
- Cognitive Deficits (attention, memory, sequencing, problem solving, planning and reasoning, may include neurological disorders such as CVA, TBI, Parkinson's, and dementia)
- Social Deficits (behavior management, social skills, and communication opportunities, may include patients with autism spectrum disorders and other social pragmatic disorders)
