Back to School: Keeping Your Family Healthy All Year Long

As summer winds down and the school bell rings in a new year, it’s time to think about more than just backpacks and school supplies. The transition back to school is the perfect time to focus on keeping your family healthy and strong throughout the year. At Cozad Community Health System, we’re here to help you kick off the school year with a plan that will keep your family in top shape—and if illness does strike, the team at CCHS is here for you.

Start the Day Right: Healthy Eating

A healthy school year starts with a healthy breakfast. Make sure your students kick off each day with a balanced meal that fuels their brains and bodies. Whether it’s a quick bowl of whole-grain cereal or a smoothie packed with fruits and veggies, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And don’t forget to keep them hydrated, encourage your kids to drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay sharp and energized.

Keep Calm and Carry On: Mental Health

The hustle and bustle of a new school year can be stressful for both students and parents. Establishing a daily routine helps reduce anxiety and makes the transition smoother. Encourage open conversations about feelings and mental health—sometimes, a simple chat can do wonders.
