Cozad Community Health System is proud to announce that Jessica Finnegan, a dedicated physical therapist with deep roots in our community, has recently achieved her Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) certification. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone in her career and brings a new level of specialized care to our region.
Jessica Finnegan grew up in Cozad and after completing her undergraduate studies at Hastings College, she pursued her passion for physical therapy at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
"I have always enjoyed being active and wanted to help others regain their mobility," Jessica shared. This passion for movement and recovery led her to become a physical therapist, where she could make a difference in the lives of her patients by guiding them back to their full potential.
Earning the OCS certification is a process that requires extensive experience and advanced knowledge in orthopedic care. Jessica explained, "To apply for the OCS, I needed over 2,000 hours of experience in an orthopedic setting. After meeting the prerequisites, I applied in July and prepared for the exam, which took place in March."
The OCS certification is granted by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties to those who demonstrate advanced clinical skills and knowledge in orthopedic physical therapy. It is recognized as a mark of expertise in the field, allowing Jessica to offer even more specialized care to her patients.
Jessica's OCS certification represents a significant addition to the services provided by CCHS's Rehab Services. As an Orthopedic Certified Specialist, Jessica is now equipped to implement the most recent, evidence-based interventions in orthopedics. This certification reflects her commitment to continued learning and ensuring the best outcomes for her patients.
