Cozad Community Health System is proud to announce the formation of its Nursing Council, a pivotal step toward empowering nursing staff and improving patient care. Composed of dedicated nurses and healthcare professionals, this council will play a vital role in shaping policies and procedures that impact both staff and patients at CCHS.
The Nursing Council includes core members Larisa Ong, RN (Chair), Shelley Francescato, RN, Emily Stoddard, RN, Morgan Felton, RN, and Taylor Florke, RN, as well as ad hoc members Brian Cronstrom, APRN, Miranda Pickinpaugh, Clinical Care Coordinator, Micah Chrisinger, PT, Renee Lighthall, Director of Quality, Ashley Wolf, CNA, and Payton Derr, CNA. The council is overseen by Chandra Anderson, Chief Nursing Officer, whose leadership will guide this initiative to success.
Larisa Ong, Chair of the Council, shared her thoughts on the importance of the council’s mission: “With the development of our Nursing Council, my goal is to create an environment where our nursing staff can actively engage and contribute their professional and personal insights to drive positive change. Our team is made up of a diverse group of highly qualified individuals with many years of collective experience. They offer valuable perspectives on the daily processes that impact patient care, and it’s essential that their voices are included in shaping a cohesive and efficient nursing and patient care environment.”
She further elaborated on her vision: “My vision for the long-term impact of the Nursing Council is to empower our nursing staff to fully utilize their expertise and hard-earned licenses in the decision-making process. I would love to see more nurse-driven protocols implemented within our facility… My goal is to create an environment where nursing staff at all levels feel encouraged to bring their ideas, concerns, and aspirations to the Nursing Council for open dialogue and discussion...”
She also reflected on the broader impact of the council: “...I feel it’s crucial to remind our colleagues that they are seen, valued, and that their voices matter. I am passionate about creating an environment where we not only encourage one another to grow but also strive to better ourselves and the care we provide… in an industry where practices evolve constantly, we must evolve too. It’s vital that we embrace change and continuously seek opportunities to improve, both as individuals and as a profession.”
This collaborative approach allows CCHS to stay at the forefront of healthcare innovation while addressing the real-world challenges that nurses face on the frontlines. By involving nurses directly in policy and procedure development, the council ensures that patient care protocols are both practical and effective. This patient-centered approach helps create a seamless experience for those who entrust their care to CCHS, leading to improved health outcomes and greater patient satisfaction.
“Our nurses are the heartbeat of our healthcare system,” said Chandra, Chief Nursing Officer. “The Nursing Council not only gives them a voice but also fosters collaboration and innovation. By valuing their expertise, we’re creating an environment where nurses feel supported, heard, and empowered to deliver exceptional care.”
CCHS is excited about the positive impact this council will have on both the staff and the patients they serve.
