Celebrating Alison Feik, A Champion for Cozad Student-Athletes

Mar 6, 2025   |   Karlie Rose Buss, CCHS Marketing & Communications Director

March is National Athletic Training Month, a time to recognize the professionals who keep athletes healthy and performing at their best. At Cozad Community Health System (CCHS), we are celebrating Alison Feik, ATC, LMT, for her long time commitment to Cozad Community Schools’ student-athletes.

As a Certified Athletic Trainer, Alison plays a vital role in ensuring that athletes receive immediate care and ongoing support for injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. From softball, cross-country, football, volleyball, wrestling, basketball, golf, and track, Alison is a constant presence at Haymaker sporting events, providing expert evaluation and care to keep Cozad athletes safe.

Alison’s impact extends far beyond the sidelines. She is also a Licensed Massage Therapist at Cozad Community Physical Therapy, providing additional care to athletes and community members to help with recovery, mobility, and overall wellness.

Beyond her role in sports medicine, Alison wears many hats for CCHS and the Cozad community. She is involved with the fire department, FFA, and various other local organizations, making her an essential part of Cozad’s health and wellness.

Athletic trainers like Alison do far more than tape ankles and ice sore muscles. They are highly trained healthcare professionals who assess injuries, implement treatment plans, and educate athletes on proper recovery and injury prevention techniques. Alison works closely with coaches, parents, and healthcare providers to ensure each athlete receives the best care possible.

Her work begins before the first whistle blows, helping athletes prepare for competition, ensuring they are warmed up and ready to perform at their peak. And when injuries occur, Alison is there, offering immediate medical attention and guiding athletes through their recovery, helping them return to play safely and confidently.

Alison’s passion for athletic training extends beyond treating injuries. She is a mentor, educator, and advocate for athlete safety and well-being. By working with student-athletes on proper stretching techniques, strength training, hydration, and concussion awareness, she helps reduce the risk of injury and promotes long-term health.

Her dedication and expertise make a difference in the lives of countless young athletes, giving them the confidence to compete and the reassurance that their health is in good hands.

CCHS is proud to partner with Cozad Community Schools to provide a Certified Athletic Trainer at home sporting events, ensuring that student-athletes receive the best possible care.

Jeremy Yilk, CCHS Activities Director, expressed his gratitude for Alison’s dedication:

"Thank you, Alison, for your unwavering dedication and tireless commitment to our team's well-being. Your expertise, care, and endless hours of hard work make all the difference. We are grateful for your constant support and guidance of our Haymaker athletes!"

This March, during National Athletic Training Month, we extend our deepest gratitude to Alison Feik for her hard work, compassion, and commitment to Cozad athletics. Her dedication to student-athletes, healthcare, and community involvement is truly inspiring.

We are incredibly lucky to have her in our community! Join us in celebrating Alison and all athletic trainers who work tirelessly to keep athletes healthy, safe, and strong!
