CCHS Offers Resources in Community’s Time of Mourning

May 22, 2025   |   Karlie Rose Buss , CCHS Director of Marketing & Communications

In the wake of recent events that have deeply affected the community, Central Plains Home Health and Hospice (a service of Cozad Community Health System) has stepped forward to provide essential grief support to those in need. On Wednesday, May 14th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Grief Support Team partnered with local ministers to offer comfort, counseling, and a safe space for healing at The Front Porch in downtown Cozad.

The Grief Support Team includes Hospice Chaplain Robert Litzenberger, Bereavement Coordinator Thea Cole, and Social Worker Dranoel Fleharty. Together, they bring compassionate expertise and a deep commitment to serving individuals and families coping with loss. Their services are not limited to this recent gathering, they remain available to the community now and at any time to offer emotional and spiritual support.

Central Plains Home Health and Hospice also hosts a monthly grief support group on the second Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. This ongoing support group provides a welcoming environment for anyone navigating the grieving process, whether your loss is recent or from years past. Attendees can expect a confidential space where they can share their experiences, connect with others, and receive guidance from professionals who understand the many layers of grief.

In addition to grief support resources, providers at the Cozad Community Medical Clinic are also available to discuss mental health needs and concerns. Whether you’re facing depression, anxiety, or simply feeling overwhelmed, these medical professionals are ready to listen and support your journey toward healing.

The entire CCHS team stands in solidarity with the community during this time of mourning. Their message is clear: you are not alone. Support is available, and healing is possible with the right care and connection.

To connect with the Grief Support team, community members are encouraged to reach out to Central Plains Home Health and Hospice. Now more than ever, leaning on one another and seeking support can make all the difference.
