Leaders from Cozad Community Health System (CCHS) were recently recognized for their contributions to rural healthcare during the annual Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) Convention in La Vista.
Two emerging leaders from CCHS, Brett Kollars, PT, DPT - Director of Rehab Services, and Amber Cochrane, LPN - Resident Care Coordinator and Interim Administrator of Meadowlark Pointe, graduated from the prestigious NHA Leadership Institute, a 10-month college-style hands on leadership development course designed to equip healthcare professionals with essential leadership skills. The program participants are nominated by their individual institution’s senior leadership team and aims to empower mid-level managers and in the healthcare industry, preparing them for senior leadership roles.
Brett oversees the team responsible for providing essential physical, occupational and speech therapy services to patients, ensuring they receive personalized care to aid in recovery and improve their quality of life. His leadership has been instrumental in enhancing the department’s services and maintaining high standards of patient care.
Amber, in her dual role, manages the daily operations of the assisted living and memory care facility. Her compassionate approach ensures that residents receive top-notch care in a comfortable and supportive environment. Her leadership has been key to the continued success of the facility.
The NHA Leadership Institute’s mission is to foster the next generation of healthcare leaders by focusing on the unique challenges hospitals face. By investing in these emerging leaders, CCHS is ensuring strong leadership succession, critical for the future of healthcare in rural areas.
Another highlight for CCHS at the NHA Convention was Suzanne Doudney, Director of Revenue Cycle, receiving the highly respected Caring Kind Award. This award honors healthcare employees across Nebraska who demonstrate exceptional patient compassion, coworker cooperation, and dedication in their roles. Several CCHS employees were nominated for this honor.
In her role as Director of Revenue Cycle, Suzanne is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the billing and revenue processes, ensuring financial efficiency and compliance while maintaining a patient-centered focus. Her ability to balance the technical aspects of revenue management with a genuine concern for patient experience has made her an invaluable asset to the organization.
Suzanne’s leadership style is characterized by active listening, trust in her team, and a willingness to lend a helping hand when needed. She creates a positive and supportive environment, ensuring her team feels valued and heard. Her caring approach and commitment to excellence exemplify the very best in healthcare leadership.
CCHS is incredibly proud of Suzanne’s achievement and fortunate to have her as a leader within the health system.
The recognition of CCHS leaders at the NHA Conference highlights the organization’s commitment to cultivating top-tier healthcare talent and providing compassionate care for the Cozad community.
