Cozad Hospital Foundation Fall Ball Honors Healthcare Heroes

Nov 7, 2024   |   Karlie Rose Buss, CCHS Marketing & Communications Director

On October 19, the Cozad Hospital Foundation held its annual Fall Ball, a night of celebration, community, and heartfelt recognition at the Cozad Elk's Club. Guests enjoyed a beautiful dinner, followed by an inspiring speech from Coach Bill Bush, who motivated the audience with his powerful message. The evening offered several memorable experiences, including a live artist creating artwork on-site, a formal photo booth, and an auction to raise funds for the Foundation's ongoing projects and mission. There was also an exciting exclusive sneak peek video and presentation about the proposed construction updates and facelift happening at the hospital!

At the heart of the event was the induction of two remarkable healthcare professionals, Bev Krushenisky and Cris Teetor, into the Healthcare Hall of Fame. Both women have made impactful and lasting contributions to healthcare in our community. Here’s a closer look at the lives and legacies of these inductees.

Bev Krushenisky:

Bev Krushenisky’s journey in healthcare spans decades, communities, and countless lives touched through her compassionate service. Born in California and raised in South Dakota, Bev felt called to nursing from an early age. She graduated from Presentation School of Nursing in Aberdeen, SD and soon married her husband, Dick. After moving to Cozad in 1976, Bev took up roles that allowed her to follow her passion for patient care and community support.

Initially working at Central Plains Home Health and Hospice with Cozad Community Health System, Bev found deep fulfillment in caring for patients who needed support to remain in their homes. Her gentle spirit and dedication earned her the Caring Kind award in 1990, and she extended her influence into Cozad schools as a part-time school nurse for nearly two decades. Beyond her professional contributions, Bev is deeply involved in the community, active in her church, local organizations, and volunteering endeavors. Bev’s compassion has left a mark on Cozad, and her Hall of Fame induction is a tribute to her lifetime of care.

Cris Teetor:

Cris Teetor, a nurse anesthetist known for her dedication and adaptability throughout her career. A Lexington native, Cris started her healthcare journey at Bryan School of Nursing and then began work at Lexington Hospital. In 1988, she joined Cozad Community Health System, bringing her extensive skills and tireless work ethic. While balancing night shifts and on-call duties, Cris earned her master’s degree and became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, later joining Central Nebraska Anesthesia and serving hospitals across the region.

In 2008, Cris returned to CCHS as the nurse anesthetist, where her devotion to patient care was evident in every interaction. Known for her fierce advocacy for patients, Cris consistently put their well-being first, a commitment she calls “stepping on toes” if necessary. Her open-minded motto, “You CAN teach an old dog new tricks,” reflects her adaptability and lifelong love of learning.

Both Bev and Cris have helped shape the healthcare landscape in Cozad. Their induction into the Healthcare Hall of Fame at this year’s Fall Ball serves as an acknowledgment of their lifelong dedication to serving others with compassion, strength, and a commitment to excellence. Congratulations to Bev Krushenisky and Cris Teetor—true healthcare heroes.
